ABOUT THESE EQUINE SPECIALISTS

As breeders, owners, trainers and riders of World Champion ABRA, PHBA and AQHA athletes, we are well aware of the frustrations of the equestrian when attempting to achieve the ultimate performance.

Jimmie Don Hoke is nationally certified through the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and registered with the Texas Department of Health. His working knowledge of anatomy and physiology are continually up-graded and up-dated through further certification programs. These programs include Orthobionomy, Cranial/Sacral therapy, Sports Massage, Myofascial Release, Equine Chiropractics, approved veterinarian CEU courses in Equine Anatomy, and various farrier seminars. He is a member of the American Farrier's Association. Thus, he is one of the leaders in advancing the profession of therapeutic equine modalities.

To gain a Doctor of Naturopathy degree, Candace M. Hoke studied homeopathy, herbology, iridology, massage therapy, reflexology, degenerative diseases, etc.. She is also certified as an opthalmosomatic analyst and herbalist. Candace also attended the equine Chiropractic classes. She is listed in American Biographical Institute's 2000 Notable Women as 1 of the few who apply these sciences for the equine's benefit.

Together, they have managed a program which allows them to produce and to show drug-free aged horses to championships.

Neither party attempts to diagnose or to prescribe as these rights are protected for the use of licensed doctors and veterinarians only. Both specialists work in accordance with attending medical personnel's prescribed treatments while attempting to aid in the horse's restoration to its prior activities.

FAQ's

  Frequently Asked Questions

What is FM11?

FM11 is an all natural and concentrated herbal formula. There are no fillers. It has been used historically for the repair of bone, flesh, cartilage and nerves.

How long will it take to use up the 5 gallons I made from the herbal packet?

If you only feed 2 ounces 2 times a day to 1 horse, it will take 5 1/2 months to use up the 5 gallons.  It will take less time to use up the 5 gallons if you apply the FM11 topically or increase the daily feeding amount.

My horse is a very picky eater. Will my horse eat FM11?

Rarely does a horse refuse to eat the FM11. After all, other than the apple cider vinegar, the herbs are natural foods the horse would find in a pasture.

How long before I start to see improvement in my horse's physical condition?

It takes at least 2 weeks to build up a body's chemical balance. If there is a slight problem, you should see improvements before 2 weeks. However, if you don't see improvements after 2 weeks, be sure to call us.

What about overdosing FM11?

I no longer worry about overdosing FM11. I was surpriseed when an area veterinarian used several gallons to worm a horse via a stomach tube. If your horse is too lively, decrease the amount of FM11 fed daily.

How long may I feed FM11 to my horse?

My horses have ingested FM11 daily since 1983. Some of them, Wonder Cause and Try Fudy, are in their 20's now. Visitors are shocked to learn their ages as they don't look as 20+. Unfortunately at times, they don't seem to "act" as if they are equine senior citizens. I often think Try Fudy has regressed to behaving as a 2-year-old.

Do I have to worm my horse if I give it FM11?

I don't. If a horse's coat doesn't look right or it's weight condition needs to improve, I up the daily supplementation from 2 ounces to 4 ounces twice daily for a period of 30 days.

I don't have a health food store nearby. Do I have to use raw apple cider vinegar?

When it is difficult to obtain raw apple cider vinegar, I use Heinz's vinegar. If you are fortunate enough to live near the company, be sure to check to see if you can buy direct. Often, you can the unprocessed vinegar containing the mother in 55-gallon drums. There is 1 report of the accidental use of apple cider. Remember, the vinegar acts as a preservative in addition to its nutritional benefits.

Can I make it up in smaller amounts?

I do not suggest you do. However, I do have clients who report making smaller amounts. If you want to do so, you must be sure to measure accurately when dividing up the amount of herb, water and vinegar.

How should I store the FM11?

In the powder form, herbs will usually retain their strength for up to 1 year.  In the liquid form, I have used FM11 which has been over 2 years old and received the results I desired.  Just like a sealed jar of pickles, the sealed FM11 liquid should be kept in a cool, dark place when not in use.  Sunlight will continue to degrade the properties of the herbs.  Freezing in a cold barn does not seem to affect the herbal properties.

At time, the FM11 appears to contain stem-like materials?

There are times when we are not able to use only powdered materials due to a lack of supply.  The herbs remain the same in the formula.

What do I do with the sediment in the bottom of the container of FM11 liquid?

Each time I remove a gallon of the liquid from the main container, I shake the container vigorously.  Whatever sediment is remaining after I remove the final gallon, I mix with a small amount of water.  This new liquid is fed immediately to the horses. Some clients have been known to strain the sediment through panty hose.  The sediment is then stored in the freezer.  The frozen sediment can be thawed for usage as a poultice in the cases of wounds, bowed tendons, hoof abcess, etc.

I have always been told not to expose a horse to Black Walnut Hulls. Why are you able to use them in FM11?

Black Walnut hulls are toxic when not aged properly. The active ingredients must be allowed to decrease to levels where they are safe to ingest. This is the reason we only use ingredients which are tested safe for human use from a reputable company.

How do I use the FM11 liquid as a liniment?

I suggest applying it just as you would any other topical liniment or body wash.

How do you use the FM11 for bowed tendons or other leg strains?

I soak my cotton bandages in the FM11.  After squeezing out the excess FM11, I apply the cotton to the legs before applying polo bandages to hold the cotton in place.

Can a pregnant or lactating mare eat FM11?

I have continued to feed FM11 to all my pregnant broodmares without complications. In fact, the resulting foals are extremely vigorous. However, the fetus is considered as a parasite upon the body for the first trimester. This is a decision you must make for your own horses.

Do you ever take a broodmare off of FM11?

I remove FM11 from the mare's feed when I want to wean the foal. I have found it difficult to stop the mare's milk production while continuing to feed FM11.

Do I need to feed both the FM11 and the FM10 to my broodmare?

The FM11 does not provide the same properties as the FM10. If you are having fertility problems, I would suggest adding the FM10 to the diet. Beginning the last trimester of a pregnancy, it is also used for aiding the mare's birthing process and to aid her internal structures to return to normal soon after foaling.

When using FM11 to poultice legs for several weeks, is there a problem with hair loss?

Several of the ingredients promote hair regrowth in the injured areas.

My horse has a hoof abcess.  Will FM11 help?

I would try a daily poultice made by mixing a handful of wheat bran and  a handful of epsom salts which is moistened with FM11.  I use a brown paper taken from a grocery sack to hold the packing in the hoof.  Then, I wrap the hoof in vetrap or duct tape.  Be sure not to tape tightly or there may be circulatory damage.

Does FM11 contain selenium?

Yes. Be sure to have your veterinarian periodically test for the horse's levels if you reside in a selenium-deficient area.

Can you feed MSM or chondroitin sulphate products with FM11?

You can if you want. Always using FM11 as the base for supplementation, I use CSFlex as a chondroitin supplement if I want added protection for the joints.

Do I still need to give my horse additional electrolytes?

I just increase the amount of FM11. It contains the ingredients found in most electrolyte supplements. Some race trainers drench with a 60cc syringe of FM11 the night before a race and 60cc after a race.

Is there a problem feeding FM11 on the day I vaccinate my horse?

No one has reported any interactions. I do not vaccinate my horses except for rabies.

Is FM11 a mixture you developed?

There is nothing new about the use of herbs. After years of training and use of herbs, I adapted an ancient human formula to boost it to horse strength.

Is FM11 safe for human use?

We use only herbs which are sold to be used for human ingestion or applications. There are similar formulas sold in 1 ounce and 4 ounce bottles by various herbal companies.
